Happy Friday people! I hope you have all had a positive week and are looking forward to a great weekend ahead! This is a topic about putting yourself first, I think about this a lot and have been thinking about this even more within the last few days so I thought it would be good to talk about it will you all. So let's get started!
Do you put yourself first?

So, ask yourself, can you honestly say that you put yourself first? Yes, no, sometimes? This question I don't ask myself much but when I do I feel that most of the time I seem to put others before myself, which is something I know I really love to do, not for a thank you or to been seen in a certain way but for the sole purpose that it generally makes me happy to make and see others happy. However as good as this is, this is a downside to anyone who does this which I never really saw until I started going to therapy in March last year and it is something that my therapist mentions to me a lot. Looking out for people is amazing, but with all the energy you have and you use for others, what do you really have left? I honestly for the first time did not even know what to say because it wasn't even something that I thought about before then. It is something I am still learning as I go to get better at. The quote above explains this perfectly.
Enough about me, let's talk about all of you. Do you feel you put yourself first? I know some find this easier than others and that is not a bad thing at all! We are all different, in most circumstances it is very important to put ourselves first as we do need to look after our own selves. If you do this for yourself already then I am honestly so happy that you can and I hope you can always keep this with you! If you don't look after yourself first as well as you should, who else will? Even if you have amazing people in your life (which I really do!) that help you along the way, that is great! But of course they can only do so much to help. The main person will always be and has to be you, you know yourself best and know the change in your life will always be from what you do to help yourself.
Putting yourself first is not selfish

Putting yourself first does not make you selfish at all! You need to look after you, like me, many of you may struggle to do this for a number of reasons, it might be that you love to make people happy, to not feel guilty, because you feel it is the right thing to do, there could be so many different answers to this. We are in the some boat if you find this tough. It is learning when it really is best to do this and know that no matter what a situation is and you know you need to put yourself first, do it and do not let anyone make you feel bad for doing so. Once you look after yourself you can use the rest of your energy to look after others. I feel this is something that should be discussed more as it is not spoken about enough for people who find it hard. Speak to friends, family or a professional which I have done which has really helped me to understand this better for myself. (Even drop me a message!) Even if it is working progress for you, like me, even small progress is fantastic. You are moving forward into the steps of looking after yourself better and that is exactly what you deserve. All of you!
Always remember, putting yourself first is not selfish, thinking about yourself constantly can be classed as selfish, there is a massive difference. And it is vital to know this. I have been so glad to write this one for you as it is something I am still working on and I feel it is so good to discuss things that even I am still dealing with, you are not alone. If you ever wanted to discuss with me your own experiences with this, message me on the Mind for Mind Instagram page or message on my blog. I am always happy to help anyone who wants to talk. And anyone who knows me knows I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart.
I really hope you are all enjoying my posts, I have been really loving posting something everyday for you all, like I say even if a small number of people are reading and one person can take something positive away or make them happy from it then that makes me feel so blessed. Still being new to this, I promise to get better as time goes by. It is nice to be so motivated to do this, I know I will keep this up. I hope you all have an amazing weekend, you all deserve it! Love as always!
