Struggling to find motivation? Here are 5 tips to help you!

ree

What's going on everyone! I hope you are having a good week so far! Today I wanted to talk you all about motivation. Motivation is a massive part for us all to be able to tackle everyday life. To be honest, without motivation life can be a struggle. Keeping motivated can be extremely tough, especially much more this year with the crazy scenario we have all experienced with COVID-19. If you are someone who can stay extremely motivated for most or all of your day to day life then I must say I am extremely happy for you as this can take a lot to master and conquer and you should be very proud of yourself. But if you are like myself, who struggles to find motivation at times, especially while dealing with bad mental health. I want to discuss this more for you all with tips that I have used that could help motivate you. So let's get started!

1. Set yourself daily goals

ree

Setting daily goals! This one is something that I started using at the start of this year, especially during lockdown. I find writing these goals onto anything you want (I use my notes on my phone.) helped me so much in the sense I felt that because I had wrote these down somewhere I would check the list every single day and pretty much plan when I could do each task. So even if I hit some of my goals for the day I would feel happy with what I have accomplished for the day and if I hit all my goals even better. Of course everyone has their bad days so if you feel like you cannot hit any of your targets for the day, please do not beat yourself up, it is okay. This is just to help you be motivated to do things for you. It is all at your own pace. These goals can be anything you want it to be. It could be do a 15 minute workout to reading 10 pages of a book, literally anything you want. The one thing I would suggest would be to start your list of small and as you build up your motivation you can always add more to it. This is a marathon not a sprint, so just take your time, no rush or stress!

Set long term goals for you! (Linked to short term goals)

Setting long term goals is very important but I feel this is linked in with short term goals because as good as it is to set longer term goals. To achieve short term goals first can really help you build yourself up to be even more motivated to hit this higher goal you have set your sights on. Not hitting a long term goal can always be even more deflating compared to not hitting a short term goal which is why I do feel this is important to keep in mind. Start of small and then build your way up. Either way, not hitting any goal is not a failure, you are not that at all! It is just about learning more about yourself and what you can do next to achieve what you want to, you have got this! Never give up, no matter what the outcome!

2. Watch motivational videos / Read motivational quotes

ree

This is something that I can say I honestly say I do every single day! This really does help especially when I am feeling extremely unmotivated and down on some days. Like I have said before I really love motivational quotes and have done for a long time but more recently I have been watching motivational videos online which really do help put my mindset in a positive light. There are thousands of videos and all can also cater to different situations or things you are going through. I would really recommend giving this a try.

3. Talk to close friends and family

ree

Talking to people you can trust like close friends and family can be a massive help when you are in need of looking to find motivation! Like I always say no one should feel that have to deal with anything in their life alone. You have people in your life that love and care about you! I know that I have many people in my life who I speak to about this sort of thing and it can be a good help for you to motivate one another, I am extremely lucky for that. Helping someone you care about while they are also helping you can be a massive boast for you so always keep this one in mind. Even sharing all your goals with someone else out loud can help you as well! Whoever you feel most comfortable talking do. Do it! I promise it will help you with regards to getting motivated.

4. Reward Yourself

ree

Treating or rewarding yourself always feels good right? Whether you are buying yourself some new clothes, a new game for your games console, a takeaway, skin care products, literally anything you can think of that makes you feel good, (this does not always have to be buying things!). This reward doesn't always have to be massive! It is good to be realistic with this, the bigger and tougher the goal, the bigger the reward to yourself should be! This is good to use especially when you are looking to hit a goal or target you have set yourself. It feels even better when you have hit a target and then treat yourself for doing so. It has such a positive impact on yourself as you are feeling proud and happy two times over, one, for accomplishing it and two for treating yourself which gives you more of a feel good factor. Just because you don't hit a certain goal or goals, this does not mean you should punish yourself, as easy as this can be, do not do it. Remove those negative thoughts from your mind and try replace them with, "you know what, I done my best and that is all I can do, I will do this again and succeed next time round!" I know it can be tough to remove negative thoughts when you feel you have failed at something, I have been there, but remember when I say to treat yourself like your own best friend. If you saw a good friend being negative about something they have not successfully completed, you would pick them up and show moral support, it is important to do this for yourself too!

5. Find enjoyment and happiness in what you are doing

ree

For my last tip, it has to be finding happiness and enjoyment in whatever you are doing! I know this might sound obvious but hear me out! If you are doing something that makes you unhappy sometimes you do not realise straight away that that is the key factor to you feeling unhappy and unmotivated. For example since doing this posts I have been feeling extremely motivated to be very active on here and also on my Instagram page because it makes me feel good and I am extremely passionate about it. Like I have said before I felt a big void in my life and even though that void is not completely filled this has helped me massively! So it is all about finding yourself too! I know that is not an easy task and can take sometime and that is okay, on your journey to finding yourself, it is about making every moment of your life as good as it can be, for everything that you can control. As I say you owe it to yourself to be happy, you deserve it! Sometimes we just have to find our happiness. Take some time for yourself each night and brainstorm something that you could do or do more of that will make you happy or trying something new. That is what I have done and here I am today!

I really hope you enjoyed today's post, I hope this can help you all find the motivation you are looking for or need. You all deserve to have the motivation to accomplish whatever you want to in your life, you deserve it and I know you will all get there! Leave a comment on your motivations, I would love to hear them all! In other news, I have finally got a microphone to do my podcasts which I am extremely excited about doing. I have posted an introduction on Spotify which you can find on my blog at the top of the page under "Podcast" If anyone is interested in getting involved I would love to get you all involved in this amazing project. I have you all have a great day! Love as always and keep your head up!
